Like so many others, I was given a start in music through piano lessons. I started writing my own music on the piano in 1992 and soon began experimenting with MIDI controlled sequencers soon after that. Using a Roland Digital piano and a Roland MT-100 MIDI synth/sequencer, I created my first song.
In the summer of 1995, I purchased an Alesis Quadrasyth Plus keyboard. Hooking that up to my Roland MT-100 sequencer gave me many more options with sounds and effects. After moving off to college, I purchased my first computer and borrowed a copy of Cakewalk Home Studio from a friend. Soon after, I ditched my hardware sequencer in favor of the midi controlled Cakewalk software.
I continued to experiment with MIDI controlled music production over the next few years. I took a Computer Music class while at school which opened my eyes to the power of digital audio music production. During the course we were required to use wave sequencing programs to create a final project. My final song "Moment" used a combination of MIDI controlled sounds and digital audio samples.
After graduating from college in 1999, I moved to Chicago. Soon after, I discovered the music software ACID, made by Sonic Foundry. ACID opened completely new doors for me. I also picked up a copy of ReBirth from Propeller Heads Software so that I could experiment with the classic TB303 sounds of big beat and acid techno.
I continue to refine my sound and play with different styles. For awhile, I hinged my music to movie samples. Then I pushed off towards D&B/Breakbeat tunes with a more downtempo feel. Most recently I have been exploring a more house/progressive tip. Check my music section for a selection of my recent songs.
